Final Reflection

I really liked this class and i gained a lot of insight on myself as a business man and I feel i've developed as an entrepreneur as well. I think the experience that definitely stuck out the most was developing my opportunity and formulating a plan for it. I myself barely saw the opportunity for an artist to be championed at the university but after further thoughts on it i realized it was huge and quite possible if i moved the right way. This will stick in my head forever because its something that can truly effect thousands and maybe even millions of people. I see myself as more of an entrepreneur then ever. I'm more focused and disciplined than i've ever been when it comes to my music as well as my school and work. I have taken on a lot of responsibility this summer and i feel this course has helped me cope and develop with that well. As far as recommendations i would say be dedicated and work hard. Those are the two most valuable things in this class and in a lot of thi...

Free money

1. I went to the University of Florida campus. 2. I approached students only. 3. I told the people I was doing a giving back challenge and I just wanted to brighten peoples day and tell them to pass it along somehow. 4. Why to give them the dollar of course. 5. Out of 5 dollar bills I thought I would be able to give away all of them and I successfully did give them all away. 6. It was definitely tough to give them away but not tougher than I expected. I knew if I hit people with "I just wanted to make your day brighter", and I gave them a nice smile, its difficult to say no.  Your kind of a dick if your like "naw no thanks I don't want my day any brighter". Celebrating Failure

I failed at making a relationship work with this girl I really liked. It started off great I met her in almost like a movie way it was crazy. I saw her sitting on a bench waiting for a bus and I commented her on her shoes. She smiled and laughed and that started the conversation. Turns out she lived in my same apartment complex. Whats even crazier is she lived in the apartment literally right next to mine on the third floor. It was insane. So I didn't know she was into me like that at first but I shot out the question just for the hell of it. I told asked her out for food and she agreed so we went to this Mexican place and had some fire ass tacos. They were great and the night went super well. We ended up going back to my place and listening to music a couple hours before she kissed me and went back to her place. We hung out a couple times after that and watched Netflix and I was really into this girl. But for some reason are txts kept getting shorter and shorter and finally I stop...

Exit Strategy

1. My exit will be a mix between staying with the company and also selling it for a large return. I believe in music, and more specifically hip-hop, you have a finite window of time where you are young enough to relate to the youth. The art of hip hop has always been driven by the youth. When this time burns out you should either hand the baton to a younger mentee or position yourself as an older statesmen of the game. I think I want to create a hip hop label and I will most likely pass the baton to a younger counterpart when my time has come to a close. As far as the future of the label I would most likely sell the company and reap the benefits of a large sum. Then I would retire somewhere far away and live out the rest of my days in normalcy. I think its influencing my business model right now by making it more oriented around all genres of music. I am also trying to set up a network of artists that are willing to work with me to become better themselves.

What's Next

In my existing market I have found the best steps to move forward based on feedback. My next steps will be to reach into the UF community and student organizations to help rally school officials behind what I'm trying to accomplish. Also, people believe targeting the Gainesville market is a good move as well. Building up a local following is a big thing interviewees kept bringing up. Growing in the state of Florida and seeking performance opportunities on campus also came up a lot. Moving to get into the entertainment UF provides is a big next step towards growing my brand. New Market: Canada would be my new market I interviewed a Canadian coworker and another friend from online. They both gave me excellent information and ideas on my next steps when coming into the Canadian market. In this new market I would have to have another way to grab the attention of individuals. I believe focusing on the artistry and pushing the strength of being independent would help me get a footh...

Unfair Advantage

Resources: 1. Im a UF student: theres a finite amount of us and it helps me get a foothold in the door at the school 2. Small amount of financial capital: Money can be used for promotion and a lot of artist don't have much of it 3. my outgoing personality allows me to entertain and meet new people: a lot of artists are anti social and can be quite introverted. My ability to put myself out there is what helps me stand out 4. The access to other talented students at UF: The UF student body is full of talented people that I can collaborate with to help me build my dream. 5. My tenacity and hard work ethic that was instilled in me as a youth: A lot of people don't have a natural desire to work hard but mine was built in and keeps me ahead of the pack. Top Resource: I believe that hard work and staying dedicated is absolutely vital for any business to succeed. If you aren't willing to put the time in then you will fail.  6. My social media following: I have thousan...

Venture Concept

Venture Concept Opportunity: When it comes to the representation of artistry at the University of Florida, the school undeniably falls flat. There isn’t a system of support for students or even faculty that have talent and skillsets in the creative realm. I see and opportunity for the University to champion an artist from its own student body as symbol for the school and a beacon of hope to other artists. This need is something that students at the University of Florida should have fulfilled because it benefits everyone in association with the school. Just like the athletes at the school get recognized for their greatness as should the talented artists the school has. The people that would benefit directly from this need mainly the student body and on a broader scale, anyone associated with the University. The fact that there is a huge vacancy in the representation of the art at UF is a huge opportunity. The need is not currently being met by anything or anyone. UF does have musi...
