Opportunity: When
it comes to the representation of artistry at the University of Florida, the
school undeniably falls flat. There isn’t a system of support for students or
even faculty that have talent and skillsets in the creative realm. I see and
opportunity for the University to champion an artist from its own student body
as symbol for the school and a beacon of hope to other artists. This need is
something that students at the University of Florida should have fulfilled because
it benefits everyone in association with the school. Just like the athletes at
the school get recognized for their greatness as should the talented artists
the school has. The people that would benefit directly from this need mainly
the student body and on a broader scale, anyone associated with the University.
The fact that there is a huge vacancy in the representation of the art at UF is
a huge opportunity. The need is not currently being met by anything or anyone. UF
does have music acts come to the school but they never show support for their
own students. The window for this opportunity will be open as long as UF
continues to neglect the voice of their student body. They idolize athletes and
support them in all they do but talented students have no voice. I believe that
I have the ability to analyze this need and become the individual that changes this
whole situation. It could start a trend in University’s across the country.
Innovation: I believe
my concept is most definitely innovative. It’s something not many schools have
done and the only one I can think of off the top of my head would be G-Eazy and
Loyola college. They did a great job of having him come to the school and talk
to the kids that were in the similar position he was when he was an undergrad.
He showed love and gave great advice to the kids at the school and if I can be
just a little bit of that then I would gladly do what it takes. This method of
having a school support an artist is insanely innovative because it’s a trend
that could spread across the nation with ease. As schools move to support their
own talent, that can bring in massive benefits and opportunities for both
parties. The artist gets a platform to showcase their talent and creativity,
and the school gets entertainment that can generate massive revenue and
interest in the school itself. Giving a school that “that’s are boy” mentality
about an artist would be incredible. Going out and showing the world that kids
from UF are talented and UF loves and supports that would be amazing. The way I
would make money from this is through the massive support of the school. I
could get possible revenue from shows and also music sales and other forms of
income like merchandise.
Venture Concept: My
innovation solves the problem identified because it gives the artistry at UF a voice
and a platform to create and share to the world. Once I go as my brand of music
others can follow behind and follow the trend as well. it opens a flood gate
for more talented kids to pour through and give the school something to aspire
towards. By being the artist that UF champions I can do great things for the
school, the community, and millions of people associated with the University of
Florida. I believe students will be on board for an idea like this because they
lack representation and I could greatly help in spreading the creativity. There’s
nothing in place that’s like this so the only competitors I would be facing
would be outside acts that are in my similar position. I would organize people to
help manage, control, and handle all the aspects of my brand so that it stays fit
with what UF requires from someone in that position and what I feel keeps my brand
whole. A group of talented individuals around me would be needed in order to
push this idea through to gatekeepers and key individuals along the chain of
command for UF entertainment. This could be absolutely huge for the school and I
think its worth taking the risk because the reward is much greater.
Final: My most important resource will be the support
of the student body itself. With the love and passion this school carries even
if they don’t listen right away, the higher ups will eventually have to pay
attention because these kids will not be silenced.
The next steps taken after gaining the support of my beloved
university would be to gain the support of the entire state. Florida in general
is a powerhouse for talent and that should be showcased to the rest of the states
and eventually the world. The talent in this state is undeniable and it
deserves a voice.
What’s next for me? I’ll be working hard. I’ll be busting my
butt so the kids that come behind me will have something to strive towards and they’ll
see that talent and grit can take you to places beyond your wildest dreams. In
the next five years I’ll be looking to take my music brand global.
Hey, what’s up James! Think you did a terrific job putting together your venture concept, And it makes perfect sense why you would want to see something like this implemented at the University of Florida. The example he use about Layola college really spoke to me personally, because there is some evidence of this opportunity being effective. Also, I think entering into the Florida market as a whole is a great idea. Like you said, there is a ton of talent in Florida, and this could create huge breakthroughs in this opportunity.
ReplyDeleteHey James,
ReplyDeleteFlorida is a powerhouse for talent, I believe each individual has some unique gift to them and that is why they are here. I have been reading a lot of your work and I would love to see all of the artistic talent the University of Florida can provide. I like how you want to go global with this project and I will be part of the student body to back you up with your goal. I think you will see a trend here, good work James and good luck on the rest to come.
