Growing Your Social Capital
1. This individual is a supplier to my industry: Kye Beatz is a producer I met through instagram. I sent this individual a link to my elevator pitch and he said it was a great idea. He said he would also love to make beats that could be the base for some of my records.
2. This individual is an Expert in my domain: Jay Indigo a rapper out of Houston. I sent him a link to my elevator pitch and also a record I wanted his feature on. He has a similar idea of using his home town as his platform and mantle to support himself. He feels that if the entire city is behind a good quality artist that it will show others in the city how talented and valuable they are. He has an idea that art is priceless and it should be celebrated.
3. My final individual is out of my home state of South Dakota. Soleil is an Expert at my similar market. I asked a friend for his information and sent him my elevator pitch. He will also do a feature for me. His targets are Rnb/rap just like mine and he aims to perform at his school: South Dakota State University, in order to reach his desired target. The state of South Dakota has massive amounts of under appreciated talent and he believes that if he can break down the barriers that hold the state back; it will open flood gates for many more artists to come through.
Reflect: This networking event was similar to ones I have done in the past. The internet has made it easier then ever to reach out to other artists and share your music. It brings everything close together. This will be a model I follow in the future because its such a simple way of finding other great people and bringing them all together.
