1. Jason Fults:UF employment practices foster inequality

Story: it seems as though this individual is writing to address the lack of benefits and job security that comes with OPS (other personnel services) employment at the University of Florida. ineligibility for Social Security and no sick pay are some of the issues they bring up. There was a petition signed by thousands about these issues and they are trying to communicate to president Fuchs about the issue.
Problem: The issue here is with the disregard for the OPS workers at the university. The workers suffer inequality when it comes to their employment. The workers are the one with the problem.

2. Report: Florida pitches SEC transfer proposal

Story: UF is proposing an SEC lift on transfer penalties for players for 2018. It means that some players who transfer from other schools can't play during the play off stuff. This proposal will lift that and allow for players to play post season even if they transfer. This will help UF because they have really great players that won't be able to play because of this issue.
Problem: UF is trying to get this ban lifted so they can have their superstars hit the field in the play offs. The school and players are the ones with the problem in this case.

3. Alachua Country opposes Coastal Connector plan

Story: Alachua County is opposing the Coastal Connector plan that will put highway right through some of Marion County. Some of the area the road would cut through are crucial to the economy and environment in the area.
Problem:  The Turnpike Enterprise is trying to put a road connecter through precious farmland in northwest parts of Marion County and that could do a lot of damage. Those effected would be the farmers and the people benefiting from crops and things grown in these areas.

4. Ron Cunningham: Staggering body count on roads should be unacceptable

Story: The writer is speaking on driving on a warm summer day and going through backroads. He sees motorcycles peacefully passing by him and such but he goes further down the road and finds a brutal crash. This puts him into the perspective of an individual that thinks the roads are much too dangerous for bikers and motorcyclists.
Problem: Too many people are dying on the roads. vehicles are way too overpowered and people drive way to carelessly. The people most effected are pedestrians, motorcyclists, and bikers.

5. Going after the opioid producers

Story: Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi is attacking drug makers for being the reason the opiod epidemic has become so rampant. 90 percent of purchase of opioids come from Florida. Bondi is trying to attack up the chain and get heavier penalties and restrictions on drug companies. The companies are ruthless and were willing to turn a blind eye to huge purchases of opioids in order to gain more profits.
Problem: Opioid epidemic has run rampant and drug companies are to blame for letting it get this bad. The people being effected are the individuals being prescribed these pills and area where the opioid rates are higher than normal.

  4. Hey James, this was some great information. Let's hope that UF's proposal will go through, so we can see these stars play. I've been following Gator football for my entire life, and I am hoping that players like Van Jefferson, Trevon Grimes can play this upcoming season. As for your article, people are driving recklessly and it needs to stop. There's no point for speeding because you're aren't gaining that much time by doing so. Overall, good job and loved reading about the UF transfer ruling.

  5. Hey what’s up James, I thought your post had some pretty cool points! I really enjoyed the peace that talked about transfer student athletes being eligible to play the same year they transfer. Since I study sports at University, this article really intrigued me. Also, Also, the article that talked about And abundant amount of people are dying due to fatal accidents on the road was interesting. Although I really enjoyed the article, my initial thought was What does this have to do with businesses?
