Entrepreneurship Story
My story starts when I was 14 years old and downloaded an app on my phone called Ilovetpain. The app was designed to let you sing or rap auto tuned over random instrumentals. This is where my journey of music entrepreneurship started. I first began rapping at the age of 14 and at 16 I realized I wanted to do this as a career. I focused and honed my skills because I knew my voice would be the product I was providing at the time. When I turned 18 I would leave my home state and move to Florida where I would pursue my music with absolute determination. I studied the business aspects of artistry and I learned about personal branding as well. I started reaching out to venues and radio stations to play my music and luckily they responded back. I have been featured twice on Magic 101.3 here in Gainesville and a couple times on smaller radio stations in the area and across the country. I have performed at multiple venues in Gainesville and my most recent performance was an opening appearance at 08 seconds downtown for a Pi Kappa Alpha event called "Raider". I have taken my music from unknown to a rising brand in the span of two years and I aim to do bigger and better things this next year. My tale of entrepreneurship has been riddled with let down and hardship but looking back; the progress that I have made is undeniable.
What’s up James! Pretty incredible story! I can relate to your story in a couple ways. When I was in high school, I attended a boarding school in Saint Augustine. After school let out, on most days, I would sit in one of my friends dorm rooms and they would be recording songs. There genre was typically hip-hop, and they eventually dropped an album. Honestly, the quality was pretty horrible! Although they did seem like they were having a blast! It’s obvious that you have worked hard on your brand. In my experience, I haven’t seen many things rise from nothing to where you are today in just two years. Keep going after it man! Also Would love to check out your music. ReplyDeleteWow! I really enjoyed reading your story James. Music has always been a passion of mine as well, but I've never been good at mastering and recording. It takes a lot of courage to be able purse dreams like yours. You're already living the entrepreneurship life. It may get difficult at times, which I'm sure you've already experienced. Never give up on your goals because without goals, what's the point? Hopefully one day I can look back and say I was once was in a class James Bellman. Good luck on your endeavors and I wish the best.
